Teeth For Life

First Visit (for Adults)

Woman and dentist

Welcome. Firstly, we want to listen to you and your concerns. Then this visit usually includes a comprehensive examination and radiographs (standard number taken is two). This is often accompanied by a deep clean. Any recommended treatment is explained and a printed estimate given, as well as advice on problem areas, preventive care and home care.

General Check-up and Clean for Adults

This visit usually involves a comprehensive examination and thorough clean. Radiographs are taken as required (usually every 2-3 years).

Preventative Advice

Keeping your teeth for life involves more than just going to the dentist. It involves looking after your teeth, gums and bone. At your general check-up, we discuss how you can look after your teeth, with advice for brushing your teeth, cleaning between your teeth and diet, plus the level of fluoride to protect your teeth.

Fillings (Restorative care)

A filling is a seal on a tooth. Decay or a ‘hole’ is when the tooth has broken down so that it has lost its seal. The most common filling is made from composite, a glass-based tooth coloured material that bonds to your tooth structure.

Gum and Bone Care

Don’t forget that keeping the bone around your teeth means keeping your teeth. Treatment depends your current gum and bone health and can range from a standard annual clean to more regular deep cleans and charting (documentation) of your gum and bone status.

Root Canal

Who likes these? But when the nerve dies, then a root canal treatment is necessary to keep the tooth. A root canal treatment involves cleaning the roots of the tooth, placing a filling in the tooth roots and then a protective filling or crown on top of the tooth.

Crowns, Onlays & Overlays

Crowns, onlays and overlays are extra strong so protect your teeth. These restorations are made in the laboratory, so require two visits: preparation in the first visit and cementation or insertion in the second visit.
